As we come to nearly the end of the Paris Summer Olympic Games, why not keep the
magic going, and bring it closer to home? This delightful book chronicles the Town of Norwich,
Vermont and explores why it produces the largest number of Olympic athletes per
capita than anywhere else in the Country. Spoiler: It’s all about how great Vermont is!

Author Karen Crouse, a New York Times reporter, is an excellent storyteller.
Although published in 2019, the book’s thesis remains valid: A Norwich native is
competing at the 2024 summer games, even though most of the past Norwich athletes
are winter Olympians: https://www.vermontpublic.org/local-news/2024-07-10/here-are-
